5 reasons why Big Show is the greatest Giant of all time in the WWE

The Slam heard round the world in 2014

It is the Big Man show tonight!Well, this may not be the best time to make such a statement given how lukewarm the response to him is, whenever he makes an appearance on the main roster. He's become one of those superstars you just want to see retire in the very near future, but he's a also a victim of some bad writing and bad booking. There are so many things that signal towards him being a very, very important character in the WWE for a number of reasons. His awful state of booking can make one oversee all his achievements. Here are 5 reasons why Big Show is the greatest Giant of all time in the WWE

#1 Putting Guys Over

The Slam heard round the world in 2014

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The people who can lift the Big Show feature in a list that is quite small and elite. He has been Rock Bottomed by The Rock but watching him actually being fully picked up was a never before seen sight.

Brock Lesnar broke the dam by not only giving him an F-5 but many suplexes as well.

The thing is we haven’t seen him being lifted once. We’ve seen it many times. John Cena has done it multiple times, so has Cesaro and so has Lesnar in recent times but it always brings this sense of awe.

Cesaro bodyslamming him over the top rope at Wrestlemania reminscing Andre being lifted by Hogan, is probably one of teh most recent, most spectacular moments.

He sure has put guys over.

#2 Heel Work

Better off being a heel for good

He’s oscillated between so many character shifts that it’s really hard to take anything he does seriously. The fact, through all of it, is that he just can’t be trusted as a character and that’s a heel trait and he’s actually thrived in being a heel than any of his face turns.

He’s much better off destroying people and being better off not caring about anyone in the audience than being a lovable giant.

If he gets well written storylines, he can definitely come across as an interesting character.

#3 Company Man

Big Show as part of The Authority

Since 1999, Big Show has only wrestled for WWE and its brand extensions. He’s done some really good storyline and some awfully terrible ones but he’s stayed put in this comany. He’s now 43 years old and despite the lack of interest with his character, he’s still a mainstay,

He’s also tried to do something new now and then, especially the rarely used sunset flip.

Also, it’s always a sight watching him get lifted or going through the ring.

#4 Promo Guy

Big Show can work a promo really well when given the right opportunity

Even though this talent has been overcome by his many erratic character turns in the WWE, it remains a fact that Big Show can cut a promo. His terrible booking has been the firm reason at why people find him so uninteresting these days and give him the ‘What’ treatment, but the guy can cry on cue, look and talk angry when asked for and can even play the goofy guy when required.

You usually expect Giants to work with their physique and it’s taken for granted that all they have that is great is their body build and the destruction they can deliver from it. But Big Show is more than that.

The last time he seemed like an interesting character was when Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were harassing and torturing him. The promo backstage where he talked about what he would do to Triple H seemingly going from calm to crazy was great.

#5 Pop Culture

Big Show in Knucklehead

He’s appeared in 8 films and more than 25 television shows. So when it comes to the realm of the WWE universe, he’s quite a pop culture phenonmenon. He’s one of the performers people actually want to see. He’s larger than life and a perfectly apt part of the world of wrestling.

Even though most of his films, especially Knucklehead, are not something memorable, he’s still one of the most dependable, one of the most featured characters that WWE has and that fans across cultures will always remember.
