It seems like the WWE felt that Roman Reigns would be the face of the company for a long time, having groomed him for that role for a few years. His illness has put a spanner in the works, even though WWE have several talented stars on their roster.
But this is not a job that ANY Superstar can take up. Think of the previous faces of the company - Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, The Rock, CM Punk - these were Superstars who had passionate fans and took the WWE to greater heights.

Strowman seems like the only man at the moment who fits the bill and ticks all the boxes that are required. Some may say that Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre could also be contenders for that spot, but there may be a few issues with that. Rollins may not have the presence and the towering personality that is required to be "The Man", while McIntyre is very fresh, despite having a stint in the WWE previously.
