Strowman won the Money in the Bank contract last year and was ready to cash it in at SummerSlam. However, Lesnar stopped him from doing so, but in the process, lost his title to Roman Reigns. After that, Strowman cashed in the contract for a match at Hell in a Cell against Reigns but Lesnar interrupted it and cost Strowman his shot at the title.
Later, when Roman Reigns had relinquished the WWE Universal Title due to his leukemia relapsing, Lesnar was booked to face Strowman at Crown Jewel. Almost everyone thought that the Monster Among Men would finally be crowned as the Universal Champion.
To the shock of many, however, Lesnar absolutely squashed Strowman and won the Universal Title for the second time in his career. Strowman, meanwhile, was left with nothing after over a year of strong showings.
So, he had been knocking on the door for a while but nobody seems to be letting him in…
