#2 He needs time to build his character
Unlike MMA and a lot of other combat sports, pro wrestling is a lot more about the entertainment than just the battle inside the ring.
This requires every Superstar in the company to build a character before getting started so that the fans can get behind them better and know what they are representing.
Currently, ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt, Becky Lynch, Aleister Black, and Adam Cole have some of the strongest characters, which have allowed the fans to either get behind them or go against them.
With that in mind, Cain Velasquez’s introduction in WWE was a bit haphazard as he was quickly injected into the scene to help out Rey Mysterio beatdown Brock Lesnar.
He only appeared for one match and then disappeared from the scene due to an injury that did not allow him much character development unlike someone like Tyson Fury, who emerged at a similar time and managed to go way over with the crowd with his character.
Therefore, it seems like WWE needs to give Velasquez some time in the ring to develop a character for the WWE Universe as not all fans are familiar with him. Unlike Ronda Rousey, who had appeared a few times before her WWE debut and had some top moments, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion will need to make a smoother transition from UFC to WWE before getting another top title shot.
