#2 Goldberg does not benefit from the feud

The thesis of this piece hypothesizes that Goldberg would quickly defeat Matt Riddle if the two stars ever met in the ring, but there is always the possibility, however small, that Riddle could defeat Goldberg in their first encounter.
The booking decision would not be wise, as WWE is booking Goldberg as the dominant nostalgia act who makes quick work of his opponents. Let's not forget, the former WCW Champion defeated Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in just over a minute, and unless WWE assumes fans have forgotten about that feat, it would make little sense for Goldberg to lose cleanly to a talent who is still in NXT.
The fact of the matter is that unless a Goldberg vs Matt Riddle match is intended to be Goldberg's final match of his pro wrestling career, it does not benefit the master of the spear to lose to a rookie like Matt Riddle.
It would be hard for anyone to take any future Goldberg matches seriously if he ends up on the losing end of a match against a debuting Matt Riddle. If, on the other hand, Goldberg and Riddle were able to work a solid, 10-minute match, a Goldberg loss might still benefit the Hall of Famer, but that is unlikely.
