As John Cena ascended to the top of WWE's main event scene, it didn't take long for the fans to realize what WWE was up to. The company was hell-bent on giving Cena the honor of having the most number of World title reigns. When Cena defeated AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble PPV in 2017, he tied Ric Flair's record of 16 World title reigns.

Ever since then, Cena hasn't won a major title, and there's no way WWE would let all these years of effort go down the drain. Cena will become WWE Champion once again, someday.

Even though he would probably keep it for a short period of time, he will win it for sure so that Cena's name could go above Flair's in the history books. There's no indication on when is it going to happen, but it is bound to happen someday.
