So many of us often complain about the fact that the WWE Championship match never gets to close a show these days. At the Elimination Chamber, there's a big possibility that this could actually take place. 6 men will enter the Elimination Chamber to challenge WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. Only one man will emerge from the colossal structure to rule the roost on the blue brand thereafter.
Of course, the lineup consists of the who's who of the sports entertainment industry. But the omission of Rey Mysterio is an interesting point that's been raised by more than one reader. Why is one of the greatest of all time sitting out of this match, then?
I do not know the answer, of course, but I can guess. My assumptions are based on WWE's past booking patterns and rumours that are prevalent right now.
Please chime in with your own assumptions and theories as well.

#5 Unfinished business with Andrade
One may have assumed that the feud with Andrade 'Cien' Almas was done. After all, the two men put arguably on two of the best matches seen in the history of SmackDown Live. Mysterio proved during the course of those matches that he's still as good as he always has been.
This week, Andrade and Zelina Vega cut a promo during the course of the show where Vega said that her business associate was going to end Rey Mysterio. It is clear that WWE feels that this feud has the legs to go further and there may be at least one more match left to see. I'm guessing this will happen at the Elimination Chamber.
This may be one of the reasons why Mysterio isn't in the Elimination Chamber match, I guess. Oh well, I don't mind another Mysterio vs. Andrade match, to be quite honest.
#4 To protect Mysterio and not have him take a pin
There's very little chance that Daniel Bryan is dropping the WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber. I mean it's not long ago that he became Champion anyway. Moreover, he's been extraordinary ever since he developed into this devious, annoying heel character.
These are two reasons why I think that Daniel Bryan will not be dropping the title at Elimination Chamber. And that's not all, he has introduced a brand new title and it makes no sense for him to drop the title so soon after introducing it. So it's more than likely that he will come out on top at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
This potentially means that Rey Mysterio may have to take the pin if he were to enter the Elimination Chamber. Because he's already been defeated by Andrade clean, WWE may want to protect him by not having him pinned yet again.
#3 He may be saved for the US Title scene
There's a lot of fire power already in the WWE Championship picture right now. On the other hand, R-Truth is one of those Champions who did not even make the show only a week after he won the title.
To spruce up the title scene, WWE may be saving two of its best guns - Rey Mysterio and Andrade. Both men could put on exciting matches and elevate the status of the mid-card Championship and have it become meaningful once again.
One wonders if the newly formed duo of Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura will be the team that guns for the United States Championship. However, it doesn't make sense for them to team up to go after a singles title at all.
The addition of Andrade and Mysterio could really strengthen the US Title picture.
#2 Absolutely stacked roster
Too much of a good thing may not necessarily be good. The Elimination Chamber is already stacked with a great deal of talent and to stack it even further may work against WWE. I daresay that this lineup is the perfect mix of youthful exuberance and veteran expertise.
That's one of the great tragedies of WWE in the current day, isn't it? The roster is so very stacked that incredibly talented superstars like SAnitY don't get TV time for many months at a stretch. WWE has the best roster in the world right now, and it's a shame that everyone cannot be on TV, every week.
#1 Mysterio vs. Bryan may be the WrestleMania match
Right now, we know that Seth Rollins will be taking on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. What we don't know is whom the WWE Champion Daniel Bryan may be facing. I think Mysterio vs. Bryan could certainly be a huge WrestleMania 35 match. In fact, if you look at the pool of talent he's the only logical choice.
Both men have proved they belong in the land of giants. Neither man is young but you wouldn't believe it if you saw them compete in the ring. And the feel-good factor of Rey Mysterio becoming the WWE Champion in 2019 would be a thrilling moment for the entire WWE Universe.
And these are just some of the reasons why Mysterio isn't in the match. Oh well, for what it is, it's a great lineup.
