Rusev needed to take time away from English!
While WWE's breaking up of the Rusev Day remains one of the saddest things on wrestling recently, it was time to do it. Aiden had been 'costing' Rusev match after match, and the storyline had been building to this for a long time.

Finally, the time was right to break them up, as it was Aiden English who turned his back on the Bulgarian. If it had been done the other way, English would have been eventually buried, but this was not the case. Aiden turning on Rusev shifted the focus on him, and while Rusev will recover given his natural charisma, this gives Aiden a huge boost in the future.
The two may now feud for a while, and even one win for Aiden in the coming feud, would be huge and solidify his run as a singles competitor.
