Speaking from the kayfabe perspective, stars in WWE rarely remain loyal to their partners. Even the greatest of Superstars have betrayed their partners to win the gold. One popular example of this is R-Truth and Carmella.

In most of R-Truth's 24/7 Championship reign, Carmella helped him retain it from other Superstars. But in the end, it was she who betrayed Truth for the title. While some fans knew it was coming, we were surprised when it occurred.
