#4 Goldberg is over 50 and should be putting over some younger stars

A lot of times, when wrestlers are on their way out of the company or are retiring, they often put over younger stars. It happened at WrestleMania last year when Kurt Angle fell to Baron Corbin. It's a way to give the younger stars the rub so as to up their profile by defeating a beloved star.

The Undertaker did the same when he lost to both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns at past 'Manias. Even the prior golden boy, Cena, put over Reigns when they faced off a couple of years ago.

A WWE Hall of Famer isn't a John Cena fan. More details HERE

Goldberg is a part-time attraction and is 53 years old. It's not to say that those over 50 cannot still contribute to the industry. Current Ring of Honor Champion PCO is also over 50 but he competes on a weekly basis. It's more to say that the younger stars are the ones who are consistently putting on matches and storylines that carry the current product.

The former Universal Champion has a match or two per year, like his bouts in 2019 against both the Undertaker and Dolph Ziggler.

At some point, the returning Legend should be putting over the newer crop of athletes. If someone like Goldberg shows up, hits a few moves and quickly dispatches someone like the Fiend, then it basically underwrites the last eight months of storytelling done by Wyatt. If Goldberg would fall to Wyatt, even valiantly in defeat, it would truly propel the current Champ even further into mega-star status.
