#2 Probably a way to keep John Morrison happy?
John Morrison left WWE in 2011. He performed for various independent wrestling promotions after that. He even became one of the top names in TNA (Impact Wrestling) as Johnny Impact. When he announced his departure from Impact, WWE signed him.
But they surely would've needed to offer something to Morrison he couldn't deny. Even though fans consider Morrison as main-event material, WWE's roster is so stacked up that there's no space for more wrestlers. This is probably why The Miz and Morrison reunited in the first place.

Morrison had done a wonderful job since returning to WWE last year, and to keep him happy, the company could've handed the tag team titles to his team. But this isn't to say that Morrison doesn't deserve to be Champion alongside The Miz. We'll just have to wait until WWE puts them into a new rivalry and see how beautifully they'll keep us engaged in their storyline.
