We all know how the Christmas Eve edition of RAW was taped in advance so as to give talent the opportunity to spend the holidays with those they love. I also know that a lot of people did not watch the show as the results were leaked in advance. This announcement was not, and it came as a genuine surprise for those that watched.

This is just WWE's way of telling fans that noteworthy events can happen, even in taped shows. It's their way of asking fans to tune in and follow the action, even if they know the results. I must say that this is quite an effective device, if such is the intention.

I wonder if SmackDown Live will have similar announcements of this nature. Taped or not, every WWE show is a must watch affair.
