Recently, PWTorch reported that Dean Ambrose gave notice to the WWE that he won't be re-signing with them. Then, the WWE officially confirmed this report and now, The Lunatic will leave the company after April.
This isn’t the first time that a wrestler refused to work in the WWE. A few weeks ago, The Revival, Maria Kanellis, and Mike Kanellis reportedly also asked for their release but their requests were rejected by the company.
It is now evident that a few superstars are not comfortable working with the WWE and want to leave it. It has now become a topic of discussion as to why they do not want to work with the WWE.
In this article, we will take a look 3 reasons why so many WWE superstars are refusing to work with the company.
#3 The WWE is not focussing on pushing them
Wrestlers such as Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins are vital to the WWE, and this is why they are getting a push.
However, we cannot say the same for superstars who have already asked for their release. Ambrose’s heel turn was supposed to be great, but ultimately, it did more harm than good to him.
Instead of beating Rollins after his shocking heel turn, Ambrose took doses of injection to avoid him.
Even though he won the Intercontinental Championship from Rollins, he lost the entire feud to him. He was also added in various meaningless storylines, and this made his gimmick a bit irrelevant.
He even lost his championship too early against Bobby Lashley. Now, this could be the reason why he could be leaving the WWE. This thing isn’t just limited to Ambrose, the same is happening with many other top superstars as well.
#2 Losing continuously in front of thousands of people
The Revival is a great example to prove this point. Their NXT run was much better than their current main roster run. This team lost multiple matches in recent times which only hurt them. After losing on Monday Night Raw, a few weeks ago, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder finally asked for their release. However, the WWE rejected their request.
We can easily relate this point to other top superstars in the WWE who were once at the peak of their career but now, are nowhere near it sadly.
Once, Ambrose was also one of the most popular superstars in the WWE but the last few years have not been kind to him at all. The same could be said for some mid-card superstars who may also decide to leave the company soon.
#1 They hope that their career could get on track in the All Elite Wrestling
AEW has arrived, and as a result, many WWE Superstars are quitting.
The Revival, for instance, asked for their release because of the treatment that the tag team division was getting. They were once dominant in NXT, but on the main roster, they became show fillers.
The WWE roster is also full of diverse talents, and this is why not everyone is getting proper attention from the company.
AEW has already said that they will give some freedom to wrestlers so that they could work on their own terms and this could also be the reason why some superstars are willing to leave the WWE.
Even though AEW is new to this game, there is still hope of attaining success which some wrestlers are not getting in the WWE.
Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks will manage things at AEW and there's a high chance that some of the WWE wrestlers will find success there.
