Daniel Bryan's story was very similar to Kofi Kingston's with WWE deliberately invoking elements of Bryan's meteoric rise to winning the title at WrestleMania from a few years ago and re-using it for this story.
The term B+ Player was used, there were gauntlet matches and corporate heels making life hard and there was the same overwhelming crowd support behind Kingston as there was Bryan.
And Bryan's journey ended with the birth of the Yes Movement, occupy Raw and eventually the underdog winning the world championship at WrestleMania, so it made absolute sense that Kofi Kingston won the world championship too.
This was a perfect example of a story coming full circle with Bryan becoming the thing he fought against and someone else taking his place as the beloved underdog. Perfect work from WWE.
