Kofi Kingston has been with the company for eleven years. He's the most successful individual tag-team wrestler they have, he was one title away from being Grand Slam champion.
He should've been WWE Champion a long time ago, but his push was derailed by a silly mistake and even sillier backstage politics, but for someone as popular and likable as Kofi to go eleven years without even really getting close to a world title match is almost criminal.
So Kofi's win at WrestleMania has definitely righted some wrongs as well as reward a longtime loyal employee for all of the hard work and dedication he's shown by putting his body on the line week in and week out.
