Elias needs to look in a new direction

Elias returned to SmackDown last week and immediately entered a backstage segment with Dana Brooke and Drake Maverick.

This week, another similar segment backstage called for an interruption from Elias who insulted Maverick. Maverick headed to the ring, and The Drifter and Brooke humiliated him.

After the two humiliated Maverick, Brooke pinned him for three as Elias counted.

While the segment may not be the best we’ve seen, it helps in bringing back Elias. Elias’ initial run on the main roster saw him get good short feuds, but he never managed to come out on top in any of them.

Having him indulge in a storyline with another underutilized Superstar and building on it with the use of a megastar could help both Superstars get over.

Elias is no stranger to weird storylines, and he’s helped build on stories with his great mic-skills. The two Superstars may join forces down the line, but even if they go their own way after a few weeks, we could see the two benefit from Batista’s constant mention of them on social media.

Elias has already sent out a few challenges to megastars of yesterday, and we could see him do the same in this case to build up some hype.
