When WWE split up The New Day, it was obvious that while Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston would focus on the Tag Team Championships on RAW, Big E would, in fact, get the biggest push of his life on the SmackDown brand.
As heartbroken as the WWE Universe was about The New Day members going their separate ways, they were at peace with The New Day staying on separate brands and making their presence felt in whatever way they potentially could.

And yet, Big E was left out of the proceedings at Survivor Series, where Otis was picked as the final member of the men's team ahead of him. He was also not in the Kickoff Show battle royal, which is a match that he should have ideally won to ascend a rung or two in his WWE career.
Big E could have had a dominant showing at Survivor Series and still come out smelling of roses in defeat, despite the 'clean sweep' plans.
