EC3 was one of the participants on Season 4 of WWE NXT, with Daniel Bryan being appointed as his mentor. He lost his debut match in NXT to Alberto Del Rio. Although he made it to the final three, he was eliminated from the competition.
Soon after, he made his main roster debut in a quick loss to Ryback. Known as Derrick Bateman in NXT, EC3 didn't do much of note before being released by WWE in 2013.
For the next five years, EC3 wrestled for Impact Wrestling and also kept making appearances on the indie circuit. EC3 became a main event star during his Impact Wrestling stint. He won the World title on two occasions. Additionally, he won the Impact Grand Championship once.
EC3 had defeated Mr. Anderson to bag an opportunity at the World title. On June 25, 2015, he won the coveted belt by defeating pro-wrestling legend, Kurt Angle. Around a year later, EC3 defeated Matt Hardy in the finals of a tournament to win his second World title in the promotion.
EC3 returned to WWE in 2018 but failed to make any significant impact this time around too. He was a part of the long list of releases that took place last month.
