In 2014, Seth Rollins gave us one of the biggest swerves of all time when he turned his back on The Shield. Riding at an all-time high after beating Evolution on two successive occasions, Triple H and Randy Orton were left without a third man in their group after Batista had decided to call it quits.

As The Shield was in preparation for another war against an already outnumbered Evolution on RAW, Rollins was also ready to defend The Shield's honor once again with a steel chair in hand.
However, what followed next shocked the WWE Universe as The Architect of The Shield also turned out to be the destroyer of one of the most dominant factions of all time. Instead of clipping Triple H and Orton with the steel chair, Rollins decided to pull off the unthinkable and hit Roman Reigns, officially splitting the faction.
The reaction on Dean Ambrose's face pretty much summed up the WWE Universe's feelings, however Seth Rollins' decision was for the greater good. As not only did it break The Shield apart and gave us three outstanding singles wrestlers, but it was also the beginning of Seth Rollins' incredible journey to the top.
