WWE is all set to move forward in its journey after the culmination of WrestleMania 35 with the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV. 4 Matches have already been announced for the show so far, and a lot more have been hinted. The matches announced are -
- Seth Rollins (c) vs AJ Styles - Universal Championship
- Becky Lynch (c) vs Charlotte - SmackDown Women's Championship
- Becky Lynch (c) vs Lacey Evans - RAW Women's Championship
- Roman Reigns vs Elias
The card so far looks promising, and if WWE does build it up properly, especially the two Money in the Bank ladder matches, then this could just be one of the best edition of MITB PPVs.
We've already got the news that The Goddess Alexa Bliss will be announcing the participants of Money in the Bank match next week on RAW. Though fans have already started predicting the participants and winner of the match, it would be interesting to see whether WWE throws us all a surprise or not.
In this article, let's take a look at 5 Shockers that we can get at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV. Do let me know who you think will win the MITB briefcase.
#5 Charlotte becomes SmackDown Women's Champion
This past week on SmackDown, Charlotte became the #1 contender for the SmackDown Women's Championship after defeating Bayley. As a result of that, she will now challenge Becky Lynch for the SD Women's Title at Money in the Bank.
In one of my articles, I've tried to make sense as to why did she become the #1 contender. Many fans weren't really happy to see The Queen back in the title picture, merely weeks after her loss at WrestleMania 35.
She has been in a rivalry with Becky for almost a year now, and it's safe to say that fans don't want to see them continue fighting against each other for the foreseeable future.
But WWE could take this heat on her to the next level if they make Becky drop the Smackdown Women's Title to her at Money in the Bank. First of all, no one is expecting Becky to drop any of her titles at her first defense. Second of all, no one wants to see Charlotte have yet another Women's Championship title. Not for the time being at least.
#4 Ember Moon wins the Women's Money in the Bank match
Ember Moon quietly returned to in-ring action at WrestleMania 35 after she suffered an injury a few months ago on RAW. She participated in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal and quickly managed to get people to notice her by her sheer brilliance inside the ring and her beautiful finisher, the Eclipse.
At the Superstar Shake-up, The War Goddess got drafted to SmackDown and she was quick to let Becky 2 Belts know that she has an eye on one of her titles. The idea to move her to the blue brand was one of the best things WWE pulled off at the Superstar Shake-up.
WWE should soon announce their line up for the Money in the Bank matches scheduled next month, and I do believe Ember Moon would surely be amongst the competitors. WWE might just pull the trigger on her and make her Miss Money in the Bank 2019.
#3 Samoa Joe chokes Strowman out
Braun Strowman appeared on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 35 and shocked everyone by attacking the United States Champion, Samoa Joe. It all but looked confirmed that Strowman wants to go after Joe's US Title.
As part of the Superstar shake-up, Samoa Joe has been drafted to RAW, and this rivalry should pick up the pace next week. The clash of these two monsters for the US Championship is a mouth-watering aspect, as these two could engage fans with the storyline for the US title, something we haven't seen in quite some time.
But the question here would be - if Joe and Braun clash at Money in the Bank for the United States Championship, who would stand tall? Both of these are in dire need of momentum to make 2019 a good year for their career.
While many fans are expecting Braun to win his first singles championship in WWE by defeating the Samoan Submission Machine, WWE could throw us all a swerve by making Joe choke out the Monster Among Men. Imagine the red hot momentum Joe would have if he pulls this off.
#2 AJ Styles turns heel
In another one of my articles, I've shared my predictions for the rivalry of Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles. This by every mean is a dream feud for most of the WWE fans. And why should it not be? These two after all are two of the best wrestlers in the world right now.
After AJ Styles moved to RAW a couple of weeks ago, fans already started wondering when will these two go up against each other. While many were of the opinion that such a match would be saved for a bigger stage, possibly SummerSlam, WWE shocked everyone by making Styles the #1 contender for the Universal Championship this week.
With this, we are all set to witness these two go one-on-one at Money in the Bank for the Universal Championship. While the match would be awesome without any doubts, the same could not be said about the overall feud with so much confidence.
The reason for this is simple. Both of them are fan-favorites and faces. While this feud could just be to determine who's better in a friendly manner, that's not how memorable feuds are made.
Just for that reason, a major shock would be Styles turning heel at Money in the Bank and maybe causing a DQ finish to the match, hence furthering their rivalry. Styles has been a face for quite some time now and this would give his character a breath of fresh air as well.
#1 Sami Zayn wins the Money in the Bank match
With both the WWE and Universal Champions being top babyfaces right now, logically its easy to predict that a heel would win the Money in the Bank contract. The whole cash-in at the right opportunity suits a heel character nicely as well.
The easiest pick right now to become Mr. Money in the Bank 2019 is the Scottish Psychopath, Drew McIntyre. Many fans are expecting him to win the contract and go on to cash it in later to become the Universal Champion.
While he sure does deserve the win, that won't be a huge shock. If there is one guy who has made his mark on RAW immediately, it is Sami Zayn. Sami returned to RAW on the night after WrestleMania and has been continuously delivering some top-class promos ever since.
A huge swerve at MITB would be if WWE lets Sami win the contract and keep teasing the fans to cash it in on every other RAW, but then changing his mind. The last few MITB winners haven't had a memorable run, but it could all change this year.
