Making his in-ring debut at NXT TakeOver in December that year, Owens showed just how dominant he was, much to the adoration of the crowd.
As if things couldn't be better for the fans, that show also saw Sami Zayn, Owens' real-life best friend finally capture the NXT Title from Adrian Neville, after threatening to leave the brand for good if he lost.
A highly emotional win for the Underdog from the Underground, Owens was the first to congratulate his pal, before things turned nasty.
Attacking his very best friend on the ramp, Owens showed just how wicked he was, and defended his actions by saying he wanted to be the NXT Champion for his family.
Meeting two months later, Owens would do exactly that, capturing the title and proving that titles are thicker than friendships.
