DiBiase bought the WWF Championship from Andre the Giant and defended it for a week.

When Andre the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan (thanks in part to some shady refereeing), his reign as WWF Champion did not last long.

Selling the title to Ted DiBiase, this was a huge sign of disrespect to the most coveted prize in the industry, and the title was vacated a week later, before being won by Macho Man Randy Savage at WrestleMania 4.

That much fans know, but what some fans may not be aware of, is that DiBiase did defend the gold for that week on house shows, retaining via cheating.

The list of Superstars DiBiase retained the title against includes Bam Bam Bigelow, with the Beast from the East being handed one of his first WWF losses.

After failing to buy the title, DiBiase would instead create the Million Dollar Championship.
