This may not have happened in WWE, but Ric Flair losing the NWA World Championship to Jack Veneno is such a crazy story, it has to be included.

Defending the title against Veneno in the Dominican Republic, Flair was not a popular man, but was perhaps more popular than his manager at the time, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper.

The original plan for the match, was to have Piper interfere and cost Veneno the match, although when he tried to, security at the event pulled loaded guns on the Hot Rod.

Fearing the worst, Flair quickly changed the finish of the match, with Veneno winning the NWA gold, though the promotion quickly eradicated the title change by having Veneno claim he didn't want to defend the title outside of the Dominican Republic, and was thus stripped of the gold.
