Kane defeated fellow SmackDown Superstars Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Matt Hardy and The Big Show to win the Money in the Bank contract for the first time.
The closing moments of the match saw Kane chokeslam Drew McIntyre off a ladder, allowing The Big Red Machine to retrieve the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Less than an hour later, Rey Mysterio successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Jack Swagger. After the match was over, Jack Swagger continued to attack Rey Mysterio due to his upset victory.
However, Kane hit the ring and made the save. The Big Red Monster chased off Jack Swagger and returned to the backstage area. With Rey Mysterio laid out in the ring, Kane shockingly returned with SmackDown referee Charles Robinson and his Money in the Bank briefcase.
Kane cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, hit an already injured Rey Mysterio with a chokeslam, followed by a Tombstone Piledriver to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career.
