#3 The long-term plan could still be Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt

From what the rumors indicated, the original plans for WrestleMania 36 would have seen 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt defend the Universal Championship against the Royal Rumble runner-up Roman Reigns.
When asked about the question, Reigns was the first to admit that if given a choice, he would be more interested in facing Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania over Goldberg. The plans ended up getting nixed and Goldberg vs Reigns was booked while Wyatt faced his old rival, John Cena.

The thing about Roman Reigns is that there's no certainty as to when he's going to return. WWE has seemingly avoided mentioning his name on SmackDown and it's hard to tell when Roman Reigns could be back. Either way, it's still the biggest match among full-time superstars on SmackDown and ultimately, the goal could still be to get to Wyatt vs Reigns at some point. If SummerSlam is a possibility, then we don't see why WWE would delay putting the title back on Wyatt.
