The idea of Edge coming back to the ring has been discussed by fans for many years. But the fact of the matter is that, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were even backstage discussions regarding the very same matter. But, at the same time, WWE Creative was of the opinion that he wouldn't necessarily be cleared.

While it is not confirmed that he will wrestle again, the idea of him wrestling again has definitely been talked about very privately, although we’re not sure if he can get clearance. Those within creative, who admittedly wouldn’t know as this would be kept super secret, are still under the impression Edge will never be cleared to wrestle again.

It is a brand new generation with a whole new cast of performers and one has to wonder how Edge would have fared against the likes of The Fiend, or Roman Reigns or even Seth Rollins. Even if Edge were to make a comeback, he wouldn't necessarily be in the prime of his youth, but at the same time these backstage discussions indicate that if Edge is cleared, Creative will certainly have big plans for him.
