What will WWE do next with Rusev?

Remember when we all thought this would benefit Rusev?

It was a magical period of time where fans believed the company could use Lana cheating with Bobby Lashley to garner sympathy for Rusev. While it did work in the short term, especially when Raw ended with Lashley and Lana kissing on stage, the company hasn't really given Rusev his comeuppance.

In fact, between Rusev taking three straight losses to Bobby Lashley, losing his wife and now not even being on television, one has to wonder what exactly the future holds for the former United States Champion? There's also the question of how he will recover from this storyline, which could be difficult to do after how he has been booked.

In the end, maybe this was a best case scenario for Rusev. Furthermore, maybe taking Rusev off television now is WWE's way of getting him ready for something better. Either that, or the company just has no idea what to do with him again, which would be disappointing after his brief run.
