At the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in 2017, we saw the first-ever Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Announced by then SmackDown authority Shane McMahon, the groundbreaking match made shockwaves within professional wrestling, and continued WWE's women's evolution.
The match itself featured 'The Queen' Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Tamina, Becky Lynch and Carmella, who was accompanied by James Ellsworth.
The aforementioned James Ellsworth interfered in the match and caused quite the controversy within WWE storylines and online with the WWE Universe.
James Ellsworth climbed the ladder for Carmella and dropped the Money in the Bank briefcase into her arms and she was declared the winner.
Due to the nature of Carmella winning the briefcase, a Money in the Bank Ladder Match rematch took place on SmackDown, with Carmella winning the briefcase on her own this time around.
James Ellsworth, on the other hand, was banned from ringside and was eventually given a suspension and a fine for trying to interfere in the rematch.
