This year, The Rated-R Superstar Edge finds himself on the match card of WWE Backlash for the first time in eleven years. His last appearance at the event came in 2009 when he beat John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Edge's five losses at WWE Backlash
Although Edge has headlined the event in question multiple times, he has suffered many defeats at WWE Backlash. His first loss came in the year 1999 when he teamed up with Gangrel and Christian to take on The Ministry of Darkness in a losing effort. In 2002, Kurt Angle pinned him with an Angle Slam. Four years later, he failed to win the WWE Championship from John Cena when he faced off against him and Triple H in a triple threat match for the title.
The Ultimate Opportunist faltered in another multi-man match for the WWE title in 2007, while in 2008, The Undertaker defeated him via submission to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.
It is unlikely that Edge would be able to improve his win-loss record at WWE Backlash this year because the Creative team would probably want to extend his rivalry with Randy Orton until SummerSlam. Their trilogy could only progress if The Apex Predator defeats Edge this Sunday at the Performance Center.
