Matt Hardy has by no means had a bad career in WWE, being a former ECW Champion, US Champion, and a 9-time Tag Team Champion, Hardy is a bonafide future Hall Of Famer.

However, the one thing that has always eluded Matt in his WWE career is the spotlight. He has always played second fiddle to his younger brother Jeff, who was always seen by the WWE as the brother with more potential and thus is a former multi-time WWE Champion whereas Matt has never held the World Championship in WWE.

Although he started out the same way when he returned to TNA/Impact in 2014, he soon broke out and not only stepped out of his brother's shadow but become quite possibly the most popular Superstar on the independent scene after taking on the "Broken" persona.

Although Hardy is now playing a similar version of his broken character in TNA as Woken Matt Hardy in WWE, it is nothing but a watered down version of what made the elder Hardy sibling one of the most popular wrestlers.

Lacking creative control over his character like he did in TNA, Hardy is failing to make the gimmick work like he did in 2016 when he arguably revolutionized the pro-wrestling industry with his innovative matches and over the top mannerisms.
