#1 Jinder Mahal - 2017
Many wrestling fans held nothing but contempt for Jinder Mahal's reign as WWE Champion in 2017 and there were a lot of reasons for this.
After losing hundreds of matches and displaying no noticeable improvement outside of his physique, WWE plucked Mahal from obscurity and asked the fans to ignore his years of losses and accept him as a genuine world champion-level competitor.
WWE could've gone about elevating Mahal a lot better had they took their time and given Mahal the 2017 Money in the Bank briefcase.
With SmackDown being "The Land of Opportunity," it would make sense that a man like Mahal could reinvigorate his career and become a world champion. But that change would have to take effect over the course of months, not weeks.
Mahal could've easily secured significant wins against wrestlers like Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, and others during the summer of 2017 and finally get his hands on the Money in the Bank briefcase and cash it in at SummerSlam.
Especially if it would end up being wasted on a failed cash-in by Baron Corbin that lead to no character development or interesting feuds.
