There iare a number of reasons why WrestleMania is called the Grandest Stage of Them All. Not only is it the biggest show of the year of the biggest professional wrestling organization in the world and is the longest running wrestling pay per view in history, the event has a history of turning Superstars into megastars with just one win.
Just take the case of Shawn Michaels in 1996, Steve Austin in 1998 or John Cena and Batista in 2005. Their World Title wins at WrestleMania benefited them in such a way that it turned them into the top guys of the promotion. However. it is not only a World Title victory at WrestleMania that benefits a Superstar.
Take, for example, Edge in 2005 and Brock Lesnar in 2014, whose victories in the Money in the Bank Ladder match and over The Undertaker catapulted them to a level of stardom that maybe even a World Title win could not have helped them achieve. Just like them, these five Superstars would benefit the most with a memorable win at WrestleMania 35.
#5 Aleister Black and Ricochet
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Aleister Black and Ricochet's rise on the main roster in the past couple of months has been just magnificent. Despite being main event stars during their run in NXT, the two were shockingly together upon their main roster debut and, to the surprise of everyone, have actually done a lot to improve the quality of the tag team division on Raw and Smackdown.
Now, after challenging for both NXT and Raw Tag Team Titles earlier this week and coming up short on both occasions, they now have a shot at the Blue Brand's Tag Titles at WrestleMania 35. And while it would have been nice to see them stay on Raw as the brand's tag champions, a victory at WrestleMania 35 would be the best for this team's near future.
Not only do the tag titles on Smackdown feel more important than their Raw counterparts, they have a sextet of highly acclaimed superstars to fight for those titles. A win over The Usos, The Bar and Nakamura/Rusev would shoot them to the top of the Tag Team Division on Smackdown and will also allow The Usos or The Bar to make a jump to Raw to strenthen the tag division on the Red Brand.
#4 The Miz
At the same time last year, The Miz was easily the hottest act in the entire WWE, with his Intercontinental Title program with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor easily being the best storyline on Raw. However, in the past 12 months, his stock has taken quite a hit, and even though he is involved in a bigger program this time out with Shane McMahon, he is far from the character he was a year ago.
A lot of that can be attributed to the weird booking that his dream program with Daniel Bryan over the summer received, and while Daniel Bryan recovered from it in the best way possible, The Miz struggled for credibilty up until the beginning of this year. His program with Shane McMahon, which was also weird in the beginning, has brought some life back to the A-Lister's character.
What he needs now is a big win at WrestleMania 35 over McMahon to return back to prominence. He is over with the fans with his new good guy character and deserves a long run at the top of the ladder with this persona, something that is possible only if he defeats The Prodigal Son this Sunday. A hard fought win after a brutal match would do more for The Miz at this point than a sneaky win had ever done in his entire career.
#3 Drew McIntyre
This might be the weirdest prediction that I have ever made but I seriously think that Drew McIntyre is actually gonna walk out of New Jersey with a win over Roman Reigns, and I have a good reasoning for that as well. WWE is facing a severe shortage of high-quality villains on Raw, and Drew seems to be the only viable option for that top spot once Lesnar supposedly goes on leave again following WrestleMania.
While a victory for Roman would certainly be a feel-good moment for the fans, especially considering that this would be Big Dog's first one-on-one win since he announced the remission of his leukemia, the amount of boos that Drew would receive after beating Reigns would be just out of this world.
Not only will this allow the two to extend this rivalry even further, this would generate more and more sympathy for Reigns. With the Universal Title hopefully returning back to Raw following WrestleMania, a win for Drew would put him at the top of the list of challengers for the title and maybe lead to a grudge match with Reigns again at Summerslam. Reigns winning might be a good sight, but a win for Drew is actually best for business.
#2 Seth Rollins
Speaking of the Universal Title, Seth Rollins has the opportunity to slay The Beast and bring the Big Red Title back on Raw after months of absence. For almost 2 years now, barring that two month reign for Roman Reigns, The Universal Title has been the sole property of Brock Lesnar, and this has caused a lot of damage,\ to not only the title but the main event scene on Raw as well.
On the other hand, his opponent, Seth Rollins, crawled up the ladder throughout the year with stunning performances, and, in the absence of Roman Reigns and the downfall of Braun Strowman, has emerged as the top guy on Raw. However, Rollins still needs a huge win to solidify his stand as The Guy, and who better to beat than The Beast himself.
From the way things are looking at this moment, Rollins seems to be the least likely of the three World Title challengers to emerge victorious. However, while Kofi's and Becky's emotional wins would generate moments that would be remembered for a long time, Seth's victory over Brock would not only save Seth from crashing back to the mid card but also help the entire Main Event scene on Raw
#1 Kofi Kingston
This just has to happen. This is something that every wrestling fan all over the world has been waiting for ever since Kofi Kingston smashed all records and wrestled that classic Gauntlet match on Smackdown two months ago. Daniel Bryan's reign as WWE Champion might have been exceptional, but this is Kofi's time now.
Even if it is for a month, a week, maybe even 2 days, Kingston has to be the one holding that WWE Championship on his shoulder at the end of WrestleMania. Not only will this generate a moment that hasn't been seen in WWE since Kofi's Mania opponent, Daniel Bryan won the WWE Title at Mania XXX, it will be a reward for Kofi for his service to the organization for 11 years.
Always regarded as a mid-carder and a Tag-Team specialist, the high flyer needs a majestic moment that would define his career. Not only will this make him a Grand Slam champion in WWE, it could also lead to a long run in the main event scene after years of being in the tag team division. WWE can dare to take a gamble with other matches on the card, but this match is something that has Kofi Kingston's name written all over it.
