There's a big contingent of fans that has been yearning for Carmella to return to either the RAW or SmackDown brand, considering how long she has been gone from WWE, at this point. Recently on WWE SmackDown, we saw a few vignettes of a mysterious woman, and all clues indicated that this woman was indeed Carmella. If she does return to WWE, she could be a welcome addition to the SmackDown brand, especially now that Mandy Rose has moved to RAW at last.
Carmella is obviously going to do her own thing away from R-Truth, and this means that she needed a new character to shake the comedy off, to become someone who is taken seriously at the top of the card on WWE SmackDown.
Yes, this gimmick does reek of Emmalina and that may certainly be the route that WWE decides to go down with Carmella but it's a fresh start for her. Carmella has reinvented herself in the past, and this one should be interesting to see.
