Fastlane 2019 is still two days away, and it will be the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania 35. The match-card was completed just last week following the go-home shows of both Raw and SmackDown.
Nine matches have been advertised for the event. Some of the highlights will be The Shield reuniting for the first time since Roman Reigns announced his remission and Becky Lynch getting a chance to be added back to the Raw Women's Title match at WrestleMania 35.
Surely the event will be filled with surprises as we get closer and closer to WrestleMania. However, the fans can keep their expectations high as WWE might have stored some more surprises for them following the event.
Now, I have already predicted five surprises that could happen at the Fastlane pay-per-view, but here are five possible surprises that could happen after Fastlane...
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 A heel Sami Zayn returns to challenge Intercontinental Champion Finn Bálor
Intercontinental Champion Finn Bálor will not be defending his title at Fastlane pay-per-view, he won the title just last month at the Elimination Chamber event by defeating Lio Rush and the former champion Bobby Lashley in a 2-on-1 handicap match.
Since then Bálor has defended this title once against Rush, but Bálor won't be feuding with him at WrestleMania 35, The Extraordinary Man needs a solid opponent for the Show of Shows that will be worthy enough to face him, and who could be better than Sami Zayn?
Zayn has been rumored to return very soon. He injured both of his rotator cuffs back in June, and his recovery time was expected to be for six months. Recently, he also begin his training in the Performance Center in Florida.
This would be a perfect rivalry for a returning Zayn, both are former NXT superstars, so they would definitely have a great match at WrestleMania, and it can also possibly give Zayn his first main roster title since arriving two years ago.
#4 Lacey Evans attacks and begins a feud with SmackDown Women's Champion Asuka
Asuka is set to defend her SmackDown Women's Title against Mandy Rose at Fastlane. This match was made following Rose pinning Asuka in a non-title match on SmackDown a few weeks back.
It was rumored last year that Vince McMahon was high on Mandy Rose, so its possible WWE makes her Champion moving into WrestleMania, but there were also rumors floating that SmackDown Women's Champion Asuka will be facing the freshly debuted Lacey Evans.
Evans was one of the NXT stars WWE advertised as one of the new faces arriving to the main roster in December. Although she has just competed in the Women's Royal Rumble match, she has yet to make her one-on-one in-ring debut on the main roster.
WWE reportedly wants to give Evans "super big push" and also want her to be one of the top three stars in the Women's division with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch after Ronda Rousey's hiatus following WrestleMania 35.
If these rumors are true, then we could get a match between Asuka and Evans at the Show of Shows. The build up could begin after the Fastlane pay-per-view where The Lady of WWE could possibly attack The Empress and challenge her to a match.
#3 Stephanie McMahon and Ronda Rousey form an alliance to cheat Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch will get one last chance to insert herself in the Raw Women's Title Match at WrestleMania 35 if she can defeat Charlotte Flair at Fastlane. This match was made after Rousey demanded it a week ago.
Originally, Lynch was supposed to face Rousey for the Raw Women's Title at WrestleMania following her win in the Women's Royal Rumble match, but when she put her hands on Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, it led to Vince McMahon suspending Lynch and replacing her with Flair.
Then Rousey had dropped her title and demanded Stephanie to reinstate Lynch back to WWE. The following week, when this match was official for Fastlane, Rousey turned heel and brutally assaulted Lynch.
It's possible Rousey now joins and forms an alliance with Stephanie to stop Lynch from getting her big moment. Although its expected that Lynch will win at Fastlane to make the title match a triple threat, Stephanie and Rousey could possibly plan to cheat The Man from the title match once again.
#2 Mustafa Ali becomes the new No.1 contender for WWE Championship
Mustafa Ali returned to this past week on SmackDown. After the match between Kevin Owens and Rowan ended in a disqualification following WWE Champion Daniel Bryan's interference, Ali came out to help Owens from a 2-on-1 beatdown by Bryan and Rowan.
Ali suffered an injury during a WWE live event last month, so he was also replaced in the WWE Title Elimination Chamber match by Kofi Kingston. Before getting injured, he was rumored to get the similar push that Kingston received following his performance in both the gauntlet match and even inside the chamber.
So, WWE was high on Ali and now that he has returned, its possible they resume his push to the main event picture. Although Kingston is rumored to face Bryan at WrestleMania, WWE could make Ali the new No.1 contender for the WWE Championship and let him face Bryan at the Show of Shows instead of Kingston.
#1 The Shield destroys Brock Lesnar
Finally, The Shield reunited this past week on Raw. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were already ready to reunite one final time, but Ambrose was refusing to do the reunion. As soon as Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley arrived to ambush Reigns and Rollins, Ambrose ran through the crowd area and helped his Shield brothers.
Both the groups are scheduled to face each other at Fastlane. The Shield would definitely pick up the win but there is a possibility of Ambrose turning during the match and beginning a feud with Roman Reigns for WrestleMania.
As reported, Ambrose is set to leave the company after his contract expires in April, so there is no need to continue The Shield reunion for a long time. However, The Shield are advertised to compete in multiple live events following WrestleMania 35.
So, the Hounds of Justice could be together until after the Show of Shows. As we know, Seth Rollins is scheduled to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the event, so The Shield's next target could be The Beast, as The Shield has beaten down every big WWE superstar such as Triple H, The Rock, Batista, and John Cena.
The only big WWE Superstar that is remaining is Lesnar, who has yet to be targeted by The Shield; if they attack Lesnar, not only will it bring some excitement in the stale feud between Rollins and Lesnar, but The Architect could possibly walk out as the new Universal Champion after WrestleMania.
