Heading into NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 15, many pundits considered Shingo Takagi vs. Jeff Cobb for the NEVER Openweight Championship to be the sleeper match of the two-day events. However, no one was prepared for the insane quality of this battle of two legitimate heavyweights.

From the opening bell of the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 15 Day 2 contest, Takagi and Cobb battled each other in a hard-hitting affair that picked up in intensity and physicality over the course of the 20-plus minute duration. Cobb's display of remarkable strength was shown immediately with a huge belly to belly suplex on the floor to the 220-pound Shingo.

Shingo Takagi has been one of the best performers in all of the promotion since his introduction in 2019. On the other hand, Jeff Cobb has had a slow start out of the gate. With the Guam native being officially signed to the company last year, he has seen an increase in his exposure and importance to the roster. At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 15, he was given his biggest opportunity yet.

The Empire member produced one of the greatest matches of his entire career at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 15 Day 2. This was an absolute banger that showcased the power and athleticism of both men in an excellent heavyweight slugfest. Even with many looking forward to this encounter, Cobb and Takagi exceeded any and all expectations.
