Goldberg came very close to headlining a WrestleMania when he entered the 2004 Royal Rumble match. Brock Lesnar's interference ended his WrestleMania dreams, and Goldberg went on to put The Beast down at The Show of Shows in a match that didn't close the event. On that night, the World title match pitting Triple H, Chris Benoit, and Shawn Michaels ended the show. In 2017, Goldberg was on a quest to win the Royal Rumble match and challenge for one of the top titles at WrestleMania 33 but was eliminated from the contest by The Undertaker.

Will Goldberg headline WrestleMania this year?
Goldberg did win the Universal title from Kevin Owens on the road to WrestleMania 33, and many fans speculated that he would be headlining The Show of Shows against Brock Lesnar. The duo wrestled in one of the main events of the show for the Universal title but didn't close the show. At last year's WrestleMania, Goldberg and Braun Strowman faced off for the former's Universal title, on Night One of the two-night event. The night was headlined by The Undertaker vs. AJ Styles. If Goldberg wins the WWE title at Royal Rumble, he just might go on to headline WrestleMania for the first time in his career.
