#3. WWE could decide to hold back on the feud and not pull the trigger this week on RAW

The feud between The Miz and Edge has been building now for several weeks on RAW, but it has already been announced that the two will go one-on-one at WWE Day 1.

This means that it would make no sense to start building up a mixed tag team match two weeks before the event, so WWE could continue to tease the involvement of the women whilst not actually confirming it.

Maryse's appearance on The Cutting Edge this week on RAW could just be more of a build-up to The Miz vs Edge. It would allow Maryse to write herself off TV next week before making her return to set up a mixed tag match following their bout at WWE Day 1.

WWE has made some storylines quite convoluted in the past so they could decide to allow Miz and Edge to go one-on-one on January 1st before setting up a future mixed tag team match between the stars.
