Lashley has maintained a dominant streak on RAW. WWE possibly booked him to lose the US title because they have bigger plans on the Road to WrestleMania 37. Moving into the WWE Championship scenario seems like the logical step forward for Lashley.
As a result, fans could witness a one-on-one WWE title match between Lashley and The Miz sooner rather than later. The A-Lister may be the current champion, but he isn't exactly the strongest star on the Red brand. MVP and Lashley were smart enough to realize that it would be easier for the latter to win the WWE title from The Miz, instead of McIntyre.
