#4 The official announcement of a tournament to crown the first AEW Women's Champion
On June 30th, the Chief Branding Officer for AEW, Brandi Rhodes made the announcement that we would see the unveiling of the AEW Women's Championship at All Out, on August 31st. The announcement was made officially on Episode 03 for "The Road to Fyter Fest" shown below.
The women of AEW's roster are mostly unknown to the average wrestling viewer. Hardcore fans may know who Riho and Hikaru Shida are in terms of their wrestling background, but new fans or fans of professional wrestling may be scratching their heads and wondering who these wrestlers are. What makes AEW's women division shine is this mixture of talent some fans may have never heard before, mixed with former talent from WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, SHINE, and other promotions. You have talent like Allie, Awesome Kong, Britt Baker, Leva Bates, Penelope Ford and Kylie Rae, who most wrestling fans are familiar with. Not to mention any future additions that could pop up at any time.
We should see an announcement from Brandi Rhodes in regards to (at least) an 8-woman Single Elimination Tournament to crown the new AEW Women's Champion at All Out. We know the title will be unveiled, but why not crown the new champion at the same venue? Let's walk out of All Out with our first AEW World Heavyweight Champion and AEW Women's Champion!
Dr. Britt Baker would be a leading candidate. Allie is another one, who helped carry the Impact Wrestling women's division in the past. Awesome Kong and Nyla Rose are two monstrous wrestlers who would be perfect for dominating the division and give one of the babyfaces a solid title chase. Riho and Yuka Sakazaki, who is not officially signed to AEW as of yet, are outstanding in the ring and have proven to be future women's champions.
You have so much talent on the women's roster as it is that it would arguably be very hard to choose who should carry the title.
Who would you pick to be the first ever AEW Women's Champion?
