5 Things to expect from the Triple H - Seth Rollins Feud

How will the battle between Seth Rollins and Triple H play out?

We have no idea how the recent events of SummerSlam will affect the marriage of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. We do know, however, that the battle lines have been drawn.

WWE has been teasing this kind of a confrontation long before Rollins hurt his knee back in November of last year. The idea of a match between mentor and pupil has been a solid foundation of bitterness for decades, dating back to when Bruno Sammartino was “blindsided” by Larry Zbyszko in the 1970s. This is the unkindest cut of all because in the end, the McMahon Family foundation will be at the apex of this battle, which could have so many implications on the future of Raw and the company, overall.

While we haven’t heard the reasons for why Triple H walked into the Fatal Four Way match for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Title and gave his protégé Rollins the pedigree, it can be assumed from the looks of things, he wasn’t happy with the direction his wife and general manager Mick Foley were running WWE’s top program. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, Kevin Owens had no idea he was going to win on Monday night, which made the attack that much better to watch.

Since WWE is embarking on a brave new world of programming, let’s go ahead and usher in a new feud involving the McMahon’s that may have nothing to do with Vince McMahon but may have shattered the iron-proof relationship between the heiress of the company and her multi-time champion husband. If that won’t stir the wrestling pot, nothing will.

In the meantime, here are five things we can expect from the Triple H – Seth Rollins feud.

1- A match, finally

Of course, a match between the two wrestlers will evolve from the events of last Monday night

It has been teased since SummerSlam last year, but could the student and the teacher finally meet in the ring to settle score? We have seen Triple H in the ring on many occasions so far this year, even as the WWE World Champion after the Royal Rumble and then as the main event at WrestleMania 32.

This time, it’s personal once again. How does Rollins get revenge on the guy who has been his biggest supporter besides Stephanie McMahon? What will the stipulation be for the match and does this lead to a feud that leads into the new year, potentially as the main event at the Royal Rumble with WrestleMania 33 implications?

2- Adding others to the mix

Could Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns join forces against Triple H and Kevin Owens

Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens are set to meet with the Universal Heavyweight Title on the line at clash of Champions. But will it be a match where the two meet on their own or will there be others who get involved? Surely, Triple H is going to back up his new protégé in Kevin Owens, but how will Rollins align himself against this new stable?

Stephanie McMahon is not a “player” in the ring, so who comes to Rollins’ side in the fight against The Game? One name to watch for is former Shield member Roman Reigns who has a past with Triple H as well. This could lead to a partial reformation of the bad ass clique to battle the forces of evil.

3- A return of Mr. McMahon

Could this confrontation lead to a return of Mr. McMahon

When there are matters related to the McMahon Family, especially when the daughter of the most powerful man in wrestling is involved, look no further than the man himself, Vince McMahon to get involved. Over the past few years, there have been angles where there is tension between McMahon and his son-in-law.

This could be yet another moment when Vinnie Mac makes his way to the ring on Raw to lay the law down on how this feud should play out. Wouldn’t it be something if McMahon actually took the side of Triple H against Stephanie – which would be the biggest shock of them all?

4- A big twist in the wind

Could Stephanie McMahon be part of a major story swerve?

I have been trying to think of something that might come out of this that would uncork a whole new can of whoop ass. What if there is more to this than we all know? This is not the Attitude Era, but it is far more than the PG-13 era the company wants us to buy into. Scandal is a great equalizer in this business.

Could that be a storyline in this feud? Could there be something in a storyline between Seth Rollins and Stephanie? It would be a great Jerry Springer-like event to build around. It would also make a great reason why Triple H turns on Rollins and the stare down between husband and wife.

5- Rollins turns babyface

Could a babyface turn be in the works for Rollins?

The Company wants this to happen for some time but did not make allow it to happen in the case of Roman Reigns. The Reigns-Rollins double turn should have already taken place. But now with Triple H turning on Rollins, the move is more natural and fans are fully behind Rollins as the new anti-hero. Even as a villain, Rollins is a great cross-over hero.

Much like CM Punk and Steve Austin, fans support the things he says and does – regardless if it is cutting into the company that helped to make them the star they were. Rollins as the face of the company since Finn Balor is injured makes a lot more sense until the Demon King’s return.

This week’s RAW pretty much confirmed the face turn after Rollins and Stephanie got into a heated argument. The babface pahse of Rollin’s career is finally upon us!
