WrestleMania was supposed to kick off at 8 pm EST. WWE had to delay it due to rainy weather. WWE backstage reporters held several interviews with WWE Superstars to pass the time until the weather cleared up.
The Show of Shows kicked off with the WWE Championship match between champion Bobby Lashley and the challenger Drew McIntyre. Lashley successfully retained his title.
