There's no point in The Shield holding the tag team titles if two thirds of the group are no longer around and while WWE could always just have Rollins defend the titles solo, that wouldn't be a good way to set up the future of the division. Unfortunately for WWE, that means they must once again vacate The tag team titles.
From there, WWE needs to hold a tournament for the tag team titles that are headlined by AOP, The Revival, and Ziggler and McIntyre and eventually name one of the lesser established team as champions. At least that way, it allows fans to get behind a new champion, set up something for the future and remove the titles from The Shield.
Again, it might be the second time the Raw tag team titles have been vacated this year, but there is no way a win is going to be taken seriously by The WWE Universe unless a young team beats another straight up. With that in mind, vacating the titles allows for WWE to refresh the division and avoid delegitimizing a promising team.
