#3 Austin Theory helps Johnny Gargano win back the NXT North American Champion at TakeOver: WarGames
Leon Ruff looked to prove his doubters wrong as he prepared to compete in his first match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Johnny Gargano and Damian Priest, on the other hand, were looking to win back the NXT North American Championship during the TakeOver.
This was arguably the biggest match of Ruff’s career as he geared up to take on two of the best men in NXT in a Triple Threat Match. Priest tossed Ruff aside at the beginning of the match and worked over Gargano.
Ruff tried to get back in the match but met with Priest’s wrath. While Gargano and Priest continued to keep the battle between themselves, Ruff tried to keep coming in with some offense to try and protect his title.
All three men traded some blows before Priest got caught in the bottom ropes and Gargano applied the Gargano Escape to try and win back the title. However, Priest was able to break free, but several Ghostface-clad men came into the ring to attack The Archer of Infamy.
Priest fought through and took out the attackers before getting back to work on Gargano. Another Ghostface appeared soon after with a lead pipe in hand and blasted Priest. Ruff tried to roll-up Gargano, but The Rebel Heart recovered to deliver a Superkick on Ruff and hit him with One Final Beat to pick up the victory.
After the match, the main Ghostface revealed himself to be Austin Theory. This was a fun match that brought the best out of Priest while giving Gargano back the Championship. The Rebel Heart has been having a great heel run, and Theory can help him reach new heights. Unfortunately, Ruff’s reign came to an end at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, but it was fun while it lasted.
