#4. Carmello Hayes remained The North American Champion on WWE NXT Vengeance Day

Cameron Grimes challenged for the North American Championship on WWE NXT Vengeance Day. The veteran was looking to win his first major title in the company after a very short run with the Million Dollar Championship.

Carmelo Hayes was confident from the start as he wore down his challenger with some technical offense. Trick Williams helped out The North American Champion as he took a few cheap shots behind the referee’s back.

The Techincal Savage made a comeback and hit a spin-out side slam that nearly took the win. He then hit a big diving crossbody for another near fall.

Grimes leveled out Trick with a Cave-In on the outside. Back inside, Melo locked in the crossface and then hit a top rope leg drop to retain his title.

Hayes has been top-notch in the ring, and it looks like NXT will give him a longer title run. Grimes is a great performer who gave Melo a tough fight for the title. Meanwhile, it looks like Pete Dunne has his eyes on the North American title.

Will he move into the championship picture next?
