There are a lot of things related to Kofi that many fans don't know!

The biggest story going on in WWE in the last month or so is the amazing saga of an Underdog trying to overcome all odds to achieve his dream. Yes, we are talking about the "KofiMania" that has been running wild brother!

Kofi Kingston is one of the most experienced wrestlers in WWE's current roster. While he never was a huge singles star, ever since his awe-inspiring performance in the gauntlet match on the SmackDown before Elimination Chamber, Kofi is on another level in terms of popularity and being over with the fans.

Currently, the whole WWE Universe, even his fellow wrestlers are rooting for him to win the WWE Championship by defeating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 and finally get his long overdue WrestleMania moment.

During the peak of his popularity, there are certain things that WWE wants the fans to forget about Kofi Kingston. In this article, let's take a look at 5 of those things which WWE doesn't want us to remember about the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Do let us know your thoughts about these in the comments section below.

#5 His Middle Name

Did you know Kofi had a middle name?
Did you know Kofi had a middle name?

Yes, you read that right. Our beloved Kofi Kingston had a middle name once. When he debuted in ECW many years ago, he was known as Kofi Nahaje Kingston.

This middle name had roots back to West Africa, but his gimmick was that of a Jamaican. Maybe this was one reason why WWE chose to remove that middle name and just call him - Kofi Kingston.

Recently, WWE has made a habit of removing wrestlers first or the second name due to some reason or the other. There are many victims of the same - Antonio Cesaro becoming just Cesaro, Eric Rowan becoming just Rowan, Andrade 'Cien' Almas being shortened to Andrade, and the very recent one, Mustafa Ali being reduced to just Ali.

The logic behind this is most probably to make the names much easier for the fans to remember and chant. WWE would surely not want anyone to remember the middle name of Kofi.

#4 The Elimination Chamber saga with Edge

Edge once took the spotlight from Kofi!
Edge once took the spotlight from Kofi!

On a recent episode of the Edge and Christian Show where Kofi was invited as a guest, it was revealed that the No Way Out PPV in 2009 was a serious point of sadness for Kofi Kingston.

He was scheduled to wrestle in an Elimination Chamber match against Chris Jericho, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Kane, and Mike Knox for the World Heavyweight Championship. Kofi was excited to be in this match and was practising his cool moves for it as well.

But sad news struck when he arrived that day as he was told about the change of plans and how he'll be replaced in the Chamber match by Edge, courtesy a pre-match attack on him.

The current situation looks even more amazing if you think how he once got replaced in the Chamber match, and this year he himself replaced a guy, due to which all this started.

#3 His Tag Team success with CM Punk

Kofi and Punk were once a very successful team!
Kofi and Punk were once a very successful team!

Kofi Kingston is a multi-time tag team champion in WWE, winning the title alongside superstars like Evan Bourne, R-Truth and of course The New Day.

But one more wrestler with which Kofi has won the Tag Team Championship that WWE would not want the fans to remember is the Cult of Personality, CM Punk.

Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why WWE wants to erase this part of their history from the minds of all the fans as Punk and WWE have been in a very conflicting situation ever since the former left the company in January 2014.

But the reality is that CM Punk and Kofi are good friends in real life and were a pretty good tag team, who won the World Tag Team Championship in late 2008. But today if you look at WWE's website, there's no mention of this duo winning the championship.

#2 The Real-Life fight with Vince McMahon

Kofi and Vince once had a real fight!
Kofi and Vince once had a real fight!

So this comes from Chris Jericho's book "The Best in the World", where he has mentioned about an incident between Kofi and Vince McMahon. On a flight filled with wrestlers, Vince jokingly said to Kofi - "maybe one day you'll get over!", which Kofi took lightly and just smiled.

But Chris Jericho had other plans. He wanted Kofi to challenge the boss and confront Vince asking him whether he had a problem with him. This resulted in both of them tussling on the floor. Though there were no serious shots being thrown, it was very real.

According to Jericho, Vince would have respected him more for doing this, and Vince actually forgot about this afterwards. While Vince is pretty much feuding with Kofi on-screen right now, but a real-life fight between the two is not something WWE would want its followers to know.

#1 He was never in the "Plan"

Kofi was never in the original plan!
Kofi was never in the original plan!

The major push of Kofi Kingston started on the SmackDown before Elimination Chamber when he was announced as the replacement for an injured Mustafa Ali in the elimination chamber. He participated in a 6-men Gauntlet Match, wrestling for almost an hour and defeating Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, and Samoa Joe before getting eliminated by AJ Styles.

That performance of Kofi clicked with fans who instantly got behind him and started rooting for him to win the WWE Championship. At Elimination Chamber, Kofi came so close to winning the title only to be eliminated by Bryan at the end.

While any hardcore wrestling fan would understand that Kofi was a last-minute replacement for Mustafa Ali, and him getting over was not something WWE had expected. Who knows Ali would have had the push that Kofi is getting! We could have got Daniel Bryan vs Mustafa Ali for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. But WWE would want everyone to think this is how they booked it originally.

What are your thoughts on this? Will Kofi finally win the big one at WrestleMania 35 by defeating the WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan? Let us know in the comments section.
