When a young Dwayne Johnson told his father about wanting to enter the wrestling business, the elder Johnson was hesitant.
An established star, Rocky Johnson knew about the dangers of the business, though he eventually relented and told his son he would train him, though he wouldn't go easy on him.
Whilst his father's connection would help the young Rock join the WWF, he would first go to the USWA, where he would compete as Flex Kavana.
Working under Jerry Lawler's promotion, Rock would get his first taste of gold, winning the USWA Tag Team Championships with Bart Sawyer twice over the summer of 1996.
These big victories clearly made the WWF take notice of the young Superstar, as by November, Rock would debut in the WWF as Rocky Maivia, and the rest is history...
