Batista’s five-month run with WWE in 2014 was widely viewed as an absolute disaster, with the man himself even saying in various interviews that he was “screwed over” by poor booking.
“The Animal” was brought back after a four-year absence to win the 2014 Royal Rumble, which was supposed to set up a WWE Championship victory against fellow Evolution faction member Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania XXX.
However, the fan reaction to him as a babyface was less than favourable and WWE decided to add Daniel Bryan to the match to make it a Triple Threat. Of course, Bryan would emerge with the title, meaning Batista missed out on a seventh WWE world title reign.
