This week, Raw aired from Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee. The dawn of rivalry between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman’s payback of Kane’s assault from the last episode and the signs of “Broken” Matt Hardy character were the brownie points for the show.
However, there were a few key points which an avid wrestling fan won’t want to miss.
#1 Roman Reigns got a huge pop, alone
Gone are the days when fans in the live audience were adamant to show their discontent towards this new face of WWE. The Shield reunion has done the trick for both Roman Reigns and WWE. Last Monday, fans not only gave a huge pop as “The Big Dog” made his way to the ring, but also showered him with “You deserve it” chants.
It appears that fans are lining up in the corner of the Samoan wrestler as we see WrestleMania 34 at the horizon. Notably, we are anticipating Roman Reigns to face off and possibly beat Brock Lesnar at the mega event for the WWE championship.
#2 The amazing strength of Cesaro
The “Swiss Cyborg” caught Seth Rollins midair and twisted him to deliver a backbreaker. This sheer display of raw strength was startling and a gasp of disbelief was clearly heard from the people in attendance.
Moments later, both adversaries were vying to get hold over each other for the abdominal stretch. This opening match of the night between Cesaro and Seth Rollins was a treat to watch.
Even though Seth Rollins came out on top on this night, it is safe to say that the result of this match could have been the other way round.
We would love to see these two Superstars close the show at WrestleMania 35 (we all know who are closing this year).
#3 Star-studded WrestleMania in history
The Cruiserweight division for WWE is at its all-time best. It is evident from the fact that there was 4-way match this week, as well as to determine the top two contenders for the WWE Cruiserweight championship.
Not to mention, the recent change in the landscape of the Women’s division. We have already witnessed the first ever Women’s Hell in a Cell match last year, and here we are, anticipating the announcement of the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match.
With these two divisions being at their peak, we can expect the highest number of superstars participating in WrestleMania’s history at the event next year.
#4 The equation between Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy
The rivalry between Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy could be the much-needed second wind for their characters. Notably, Matt Hardy competed in a pre-show match at this year’s Survivor Series whereas Bray Wyatt didn’t even cut in for the PPV.
The other members of Wyatt family have moved on with their separate ways as Luke Harper and Erick Rowan teamed up as the “Bludgeon Brothers”. Needless to say, Braun Strowman has captured his rightful place among the top wrestlers on the active roster.
Similarly, Matt Hardy is left on his own as Jeff Hardy is out of action due to an injury. The older of the Hardy brother has already shown signs of his “Broken” character after his loss to the “Eater of the Worlds” last Monday.
Fans will love to see an intense storyline between these two wrestlers topped with a couple of power packed matches in near future.
#5 What’s next for Jason Jordon?
After being story lined as Kurt Angle’s son, Jason Jordon is yet to achieve something remarkable. Let us take a look back at his career as of late. Jason Jordon has served as a catalyst for the feud between:
John Cena and Roman Reigns, when he faced these two Superstars respectively in order to build up their match at No Mercy this year.
Kurt Angle and Triple H, which might lead to a WrestleMania match this year (fingers crossed).
Braun Strowman and Kane, when he faced these two, respectively over last two weeks.
Where does this leave the new boy? He will probably get a spot in the Royal Rumble match as one of the participants, but he definitely deserves much better than this.
