Strowman dealing with the 2-on-1 situation
SummerSlam 2017 featured a stacked match-card as the pay-per-view featured the likes of Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, and Sasha Banks, among other notable names. The show was headlined by The Beast Incarnate who put his Universal Championship on the line against arguably three of the biggest names in the company in Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe.

These three men were quite possibly the biggest threats to Lesnar's Universal Championship at that point in time.
In the build-up to the show, Reigns and Joe competed in a singles match on RAW, however, there was no decisive finish to the bout, as Braun Strowman took out both The Big Dog and the former NXT Champion, despite being in a 2-on-1 situation. Braun Strowman's assault on both Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns made him one of the favourites to walk out of SummerSlam as the new Universal Champion, but adding Brock Lesnar to the mix makes it an altogether different ball game.
