Big Cass came through the ranks in NXT alongside Enzo Amore. After the two stars went their own way and their feud came to an abrupt end because of an injury to Big Cass, the seven-foot star returned on an episode of SmackDown.
Cass stepped into a feud with Daniel Bryan, and as part of that feud, Cass came face to face with a little person dressed as Bryan, since he was making fun of Bryan's height. Ahead of the segment, Vince McMahon had specifically told Cass to only hit the little person with a big boot but he didn't listen.

Cass had asked Vince McMahon if he could push the fight further and the WWE Chaiman shot down idea, but Cass still went ahead with his own idea.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Cass asked officials for permission before being turned down, he then went to Vince McMahon for permission but was once again turned down so Cass went through with it anyway.
It's speculated that this is one of the reasons why he was later released from WWE.
